Sounds familiar, right? You might have watched “ABNKKBSNPLAko?!“ or Aba Nakakabasa Na Pala Ako” movie in mind in such set up. The exposition kicks off in a classroom setting on the first day of class where each student is asked to introduce themselves before the class. Romance is already a “given” in the mainstream Philippine Cinema, yet Jason Paul Laxamana, the writer and director of the movie took a subtle detour from what’s already too cliché. However, as each scene reveals, the story line begins to show its peculiar taste that goes beyond mediocrity. As you start watching its Exposition, not to mention considering the title of the movie, you would surely conclude that “ 100 Tula Para Kay Stella”, an Independent Film and an Official Entry to the Pista ng Pelikulang Pinoy is another movie that promotes poetry, second to “ Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”. “Simple but cute” is how the Professor described the first poem that Fidel wrote for Stella which is more or less the same description you can give to the movie itself.
